Who we are

A home-grown charity with field-level roots.

Gulbahar — “the spring blossom” — began in 2011 with one rented room in Orangi Town, a stack of donated books and eleven volunteers. Today we run schools, clinics, vocational centres and relief operations across Karachi, Islamabad and rural Sindh, guided by a simple promise: aid with dignity, and outcomes you can audit.

  • Registered & transparent. Societies Registration Act 1860, audited annually by a chartered accountancy firm.
  • 82 paise of every rupee reaches the field — our programme delivery ratio, published every year.
  • Women-led field teams. 68% of our community staff are women recruited from the communities they serve.
What we do

Eight programs. One promise.

We design long-term programs around the real bottlenecks families face — then we measure them, publish the numbers, and keep going.

Success story

From a borrowed desk to a shop of her own.

Rubina, 34, joined our Khayateen-e-Karobar centre in Gulshan-e-Iqbal after her family lost its sole income. In seven months she completed stitching and bookkeeping modules, received a micro-grant, and now trains two apprentices of her own.

Voices from the field

The people we walk with.

Three of my children now go to a real school. When the teacher sent home the first report card, my eldest cried — nobody in our chawl had ever finished primary before.

The mobile clinic comes every Tuesday. For an elderly widow like me, a free check-up and medicine I can actually afford is the difference between working and bed rest.

Gulbahar did not hand us a cheque and disappear. They trained us, connected us to buyers in Saddar, and stayed through the first difficult six months of our cooperative.
